Say NO to Child Marriage

Parents even now and not only in India also in different parts of the world push their kids into a marriage at very young age. Parents think that it’s safe for their daughter to get married and they try to get rid of all the responsibilities of a girl child.

Even before knowing the meaning of marriage, husband and all other aspects related to marriage, girl is put under lot of responsibilities and rules and expected to fulfil everything as per everyone’s requirement. In most of the cases, the girl is dropped out of college after getting married and made to stay at home and to take care of all the household work. She will deprived of knowledge, options and choice in her life.

With not having proper education and knowledge, she will not be able to lead an independent life in her future. She is always bound to the restrictions and the path that is preached to her by her husband and in-laws. This in future affects her self-esteem and way living.

In most of the child marriages, girl would not even have the idea about the physical relationship with her husband and she is just made to go through many changes without her understanding about lot of things. And the pregnancy at the young age can cause mental and physical issues since body and mind will not be ready to go through the situations. In many cases, girl even loses her life while giving birth.

At the age of learning, playing, making mistakes, marriage takes everything away from the girl. Her life, her thinking, her body and her mind is raised in the way that is not beneficial for her. She, without knowing starts to live for others and thinks that is life and that is what she is born to do.

Do not snatch away the opportunities from your daughter. Do not preach false life style. Let her grow into an independent individual and teach her to create her own path instead of living under someone else’s shadow. Child marriage can be one of the reasons for female illiteracy, domestic violence, sexual and physical violence.
